چکیده

This study provides length-weight relationships (LWR) that had not yet been reported for four fish species belonging to different families: Chrysichthys johnelsi Daget, 1959, Cynoglossus senegalensis (Kaup, 1858), Citharichthys stampflii (Steindachner, 1894) and Pseudotolithus typus, Bleeker, 1863. Data were collected in the Fatala estuary, republic of Guinea, each month between January 1993 March 1994, using alternately a purse seine net (length 250 m, height 20 14 mm side mesh) gillnets (side mesh sizes 10, 12.5, 15, 15.5, 20, 22.5, 25, 30, 35 40 mm). For specimen, fork or total length weight measured with precision 0.1 cm g respectively. A wider size range, compared range available FishBase, was obtained typus. The present also new maximum stampflii. determination coefficient (r²) body ranged 0.958 0.989 senegalensis. allometric b varied from 2.9552 (Chrysichthys johnelsi) 3.7288 (Citharichthys stampflii). value LWRs should assist fisheries scientists managers complement their further studies population parameters improve management decisions estuary and, more widely, West Africa.

Microsporidian parasites in four species of carangid fishes from the Senegalese coast (West Africa)

Hepatic microsporidiosis was observed in four species of carangid fishes from the Senegalese coast. Being unable to positively identify the parasitic species, we provisionally placed them in the collective group Microsporidium Balbiani, 1984. The Microsporidium found in Caranx crysos and Caranx senegallus was labeled sp1, that found in Selene dorsalis was called sp2, and that found in Trachurus...

The present study describes the length-weight relationship (LWR), length-length relationship (LLR) and condition factor of the wild population of the shrimp Macrobrachium macrobrachion from the rivers of Côte d’Ivoire (West Africa). Samples were randomly collected from small-scale shrimp fisheries using bamboo traps. Of the thirteen analyzed morphometrics characters, only the second pleura widt...

Comparison of immunoglobulin (IgM) from four fish species

Immunoglobulin (IgM) was isolated from the serum of four fish species, Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.), halibut (Hippoglossus hippoglossus L.), haddock (Melanogrammus aeglefinus L.) and cod (Gadus morhua L.) and a comparison made of some physical and biochemical properties. The molecular weight of IgM varied between the different species and between the different analytical methods used. IgM f...
